Mr Safdar Alam received his degree of Doctor of Medicine from the Latvian Medical Academy in 1999 and then completed his resident training in General Ophthalmology and received his post-graduate degree in 2005
Mr Alam joined the NHS where he began working as a full-time member of staff at the Birch Hill Hospital Ophthalmology Department. In 2009, Mr Alam joined North Devon District Hospital as a Speciality Doctor in Ophthalmology.
Mr Alam completed his Medical Retina Fellowship from the renowned Royal Liverpool Teaching Hospital in 2014 and subsequently joined Anglia Community Eye Service as a substantive Consultant Ophthalmologist.
Since 2020, Mr Alam is working as a substantive Consultant Ophthalmologist at North West Anglia NHS foundation Trust with sub specialty interest in Medical Retina, Medical Glaucoma and Neuro ophthalmology. Mr Alam is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and member of the EURETINA and an affiliate member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
