I have a wide experience in the medical and surgical treatment of general eye conditions, complex cataract surgery, retinal and macular diseases such as retinal detachment, macular hole, epiretinal membrane, age-related macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusions, uveitis, and diabetic retinopathy.
I graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2006 and completed my ophthalmology specialty training in Wales and East Midlands (Leicester), England. I then went on to complete one year of research fellowship in medical and vitreoretinal surgery in Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, England.
My research work includes the development of a new hypersonic vitrectomy for retinal surgery and retinal implants. I also completed a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery in Birmingham Midlands Eye Centre (BMEC), to further develop my experience in managing retinal conditions such as retinal detachment, macular hole and epiretinal membrane surgery and serious ocular conditions such as endophthalmitis and penetrating eye injuries.
I am currently working at BMEC as a consultant ophthalmologist with a special interest in vitreoretinal surgery and I am the Eye Emergency Department lead clinician.
