Mr Salman Mirza is a Consultant Ophthalmologist working at the Worcestershire Acute Hospital Foundation Trust, and Newmedica eye clinic and surgical centre, Worcester. He specialises in cataract surgery, diabetic eye disease, macular and retinal diseases. He leads a team of fellows, specialty doctors, trainees and specialist nurses in evaluating & treating complex medical retina problems.
Mr Mirza has a wealth of experience in diagnosing and treating age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions and other inflammatory conditions. Furthermore, he is experienced in performing Phacoemulsification cataract surgery and he routinely deals with complex cases with his specialism being underatking surgery in diabetic patients.
Mr Mirza takes an active part in the teaching of medical students (he is Senior Academy Tutor for University of Birmingham), junior doctors, optometrists and GP colleagues. He has research ineterests in age related macular degeneration and retinal vascular diseases.
He has organised several educational meetings within the Midlands region and is also now the president of the Midland Opthalmological Society.
