Mr Ricardo De Sousa Peixoto

Consultant Ophthalmologist and Partner

I qualified from the University of Warwick and I also have a degree in genetics and a PhD, both awarded by the University of Edinburgh. I have also completed a glaucoma TSC fellowship at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham, and a senior clinical glaucoma fellowship at the Birmingham Midlands Eye Centre.

I provide care in general ophthalmology, including dry eye disease and blepharitis. I also provide cataract surgery with premium lenses. I am a glaucoma specialist, including difficult complex glaucoma cases that require glaucoma tubes. I was responsible for setting up the Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) services in University Hospitals Derby and Burton. I am certified to implant iStent® and Preserflo™ implants and i am a key opinion leader in OMNI® system, teaching other glaucoma surgeons.

I am the recipient of multiple prizes for scientific and clinical talks and I am currently leading a piece of research that will have a real impact on patients with glaucoma and dry eye.
