The following statements are made to clarify the position on Newmedica’s formulary and the implementation of NICE Technology Appraisals (TA) for medicines.
Publication and accessibility of Formulary (NHS Contract Reference SC27.1.1): Newmedica uses a national formulary that uses the electronic British National Formulary (eBNF) as a platform.
Newmedica does not have a local formulary as it is commissioned by a variety of NHS CCCs, Trusts and Foundation Trusts. The prescribing of medication for NHS patients is undertaken in accordance with the local formulary of the relevant NHS body.
Relevant NICE Technology Appraisals (NHS Contract Reference SC27.1.2 and SC27.1.3): Where relevant NHS treatment is provided in the service, each Newmedica service will be able to provide local information on the implementation of NICE Technology Appraisals (TA).
