What to look for in a cataract surgeon
When choosing a cataract surgeon, looking at their qualifications is a good starting point. If they have an FRCOphth (Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists) or equivalent qualification, this means they have a medical degree and have completed extensive specialist training. Choosing a cataract surgeon who has performed a high volume of procedures is also reassuring that you’re in safe hands. A good surgeon will also take time to provide personalised care by understanding your individual circumstances, discussing lens options, and ensuring you feel informed.
