Cataracts are a very common eye condition that usually develop as you age. They develop when the eye’s clear lens forms cloudy or misty patches. Although cataracts won’t usually cause any damage, they often impact your vision, making it seem like you’re looking through a frosty window. So treatment is often recommended to help restore your vision and get you back to doing what you love.
Blurred vision
Trouble seeing at night
Light and glare sensitivity
Seeing halos around lights
Fading or yellowing colours
Double vision
Frequent changes to your vision prescriptions
An astigmatism is very common and very treatable. It happens when the eye isn’t perfectly round — more like a rugby ball than a football — which can make vision look blurry or distorted at any distance. This is usually down to uneven curves in the cornea or lens, meaning light doesn’t focus properly on the retina.
If you’ve got astigmatism, you might notice blurred or distorted vision, tired or strained eyes, headaches, or trouble seeing clearly at night. We’re often born with it or inherit it, but it can also develop after an eye injury, surgery, or because of a condition called keratoconus.
The good news is we’re able to treat astigmatism in a few different ways, including glasses, contact lenses, or vision-correcting surgery.
Not all lenses are the same — their design, shape, and material quality play a crucial role in delivering clear vision shortly after surgery and ensuring long term visual performance. There are a variety of lens options available to suit different lifestyles and preferences for glasses-free vision.
Our consultants will talk you through the lens choices available so you can feel confident in selecting the option that best helps you achieve your desired vision.
Note, if you have an astigmatism a toric lens of your choice will be fitted.
